Hear from Our Students: The Impact of the Sister School Exchange Program
The Sister School Exchange Program (SSEP) is more than just an opportunity to travel—it's an experience that changes perspectives and creates lasting memories. Hear from Lakeshore students who have participated in this life-changing program:
Wil:
"I joined the program to be able to visit another country, but after going through the SSEP, I got much more. I had the opportunity to explore new places, experience new cultures, make new friends, and create lasting memories."
Hazel:
"Although I've been out of the country plenty of other times, the Sister School Exchange Program offers a completely different perspective. The chance to stay with an actual German student and go through their daily life is just so cool. It allowed me to truly experience German culture: their favorite foods, family culture, school life, cultural norms, etc. Traveling halfway across the world may seem daunting, but trust me, it is completely worth it. It was an irreplaceable experience that I will take with me for the rest of my life."
Lara:
"There were so many amazing aspects of my experience with the SSEP program, from spaghetti ice cream to visiting an art museum in the Netherlands. But I think the most impactful part of my experience was getting to live the life of my exchange partner for two weeks. I got to live not as a tourist, but as a German. I made genuine connections with people, which is something I never could have done otherwise. My time with the SSEP program was an experience like no other."
Paige:
"Every part of the program is amazing, but the relationships I formed—both with my German partner and students from Lakeshore—were truly remarkable. Going on this journey together gave me new friendships that will last a lifetime."
The SSEP isn't just about traveling; it's about transforming how students see the world and their place in it. Ready to make your own unforgettable memories? Applications are due March 10! Visit our program website for details. https://aperkins059.wixsite.com/ssep/program-overview

Learning Beyond the Classroom
At Lakeshore, we know education goes far beyond textbooks! That’s why we launched the Sister School Exchange Program with Gesamtschule Hardt in Germany.
This incredible program gives high school students the chance to host international friends, explore new cultures, tour local sites, and build lifelong friendships. For two weeks, they experience learning in ways no classroom can match!
Visit our program website for details on dates, costs, and logistics. Applications are due by March 10!

Not traveling but still want to join the fun? We’re looking for extra host families to welcome our German guests! Submit an application and indicate you're hosting only. We typically need 2-3 extra families each year—your support makes a BIG difference!
